The explosion was caused by a natural gas leak, but no details yet.

There’s no word yet on the cause of death but the RCMP has now confirmed that one person was killed in a large explosion about 2:30 yesterday morning, in a residential neighborhood in Tumbler Ridge.

If you’re familiar with the community, the home was in the first hundred block of Wolverine avenue and, Constable Craig Douglass, the RCMP North District liason officer, picks up the story at that point…

Initial reports indicated the home where the explosion occurred was levelled and at least two others were heavily damaged.

Unofficial reports have also suggested that as a result of the blast, a toddler was thrown from her crib and needed to be extracted from a bedroom wall.

House Explodes in Tumbler Ridge

[See post to watch Flash video]

Constable Douglass confirmed that at least one child was among those who escaped serious injury, but he declined to say more than that at this time.

He did say the RCMP, the BC Coroners Service and a medical health officer continue their investigation.

I’m glad we all know about natural gas and what it can do.

Fort St. John Fire Crews were called to the scene of a house fire at 8916 84a street Thursday evening.

Crews were called shortly after 5pm, after the fire started in the kitchen area in the rear of the house. Fire Chief Fred Burrows believes the fire broke through a window and spread to exterior of the home.

One child was inside the home when the fire started and was taken to hospital by ambulance to be checked out for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, but the fire department hopes to discover the cause in the coming days. Early damage estimates range around $50,000.

The Fort St. John Fire Department, along with police and ambulance crews, attended a scene on 93rd Avenue on Friday.

Fire Crews were seen entering the house through a window at the top of the building. The house is located close to the North Peace Secondary School.

Fort St. John Councilor Lori Ackerman says she was called for disaster relief.

Ackerman gets called to events if families need to be relocated due to a disaster. She says family of four, including two kids, will be staying with family. She says the family will be provided with services like food and clothing.

The avenue infront of the home is currently closed to one lane, and police are directing the flow of traffic. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

When a user of BuddyPress created a blog it used the WordPress MU default theme and no BuddyPress user them came with the plug-in. This was no good as the user was left with a stand alone blog not integrated with BuddyPress and no link back. I did some searching and found this solution by Andrea_r:

At at the BuddyPress .org site here.

Make a copy of the home theme and move it somewhere.
rename the folder to something obvious, like bp-blog-theme.
Edit style.css and change the theme name to be Blogs instead of Home.
Delete home.php.

move the new theme back into wp-content/themes/. Activate it under Site Admin -> Themes. Go to a member blog (you have a test blog, right?), under Appearance and activate the new BLOG theme.

Give it a whirl and let me know how you make out. There’s other regular WPMU plugins to enable the theme by default on a new blog. My fave: http://wpmudev.org/project/wpmu-blog-defaults. That way the blog creation part is seamless and looks well-integrated.

I found a way better WordPress default plug-in here it is a neat plug-in that gives a lot of default settings.

The Blog, Home, Members, Groups and Blogs links did not work as it is a modified home theme page. You have to hard code the links in the header.php file.

Pretty Blue Flowers

It produces a social network which, with other plugins that are already being developed something close to Facebook, My Space, etc. Your friends are already on Facebook so this will not replace it, but could be fun and more personal. Join up and lets see how much fun we can have. You can create your own blog, wire posts, groups and I will be adding Flicker, You Tube, and other plugins.
